Game of Logging - Level 1 (8 hours) - focuses on introducing the participant to open face felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Topics covered include personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features, chainsaw reactive forces, bore cutting, pre-planning the fell, and understanding hinge wood strength.

GAME OF LOGGING - LEVEL 1 CAN BE REPEATED FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT IF THE INDIVIDUAL HAS NOT COMPLETED THE CLASS WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS.

Meeting Location:
Traveling south on S. Main Street from the intersection of US 6 and S. Main St (SR 86) in Cambridge Springs go approximately 1.5 miles to gravel Parking area on the right. It is .13 miles past the intersection with Hodges Lane and Electric Drive.

There is a gravel lot on the east side of the road with a gate into a fenced area. Go through the open gate (or wait in the lot until it is opened) and go straight back to the end of the field where the class will meet. The gravel lot pull off is located between Lilly Drive and Woodland Drive, both of which head west off of Compass Road.

Lunch:
Is on your own. Please bring your lunch and water to the training as there will not be time to leave the site during the day.

What to Bring:
PPE – hardhat, hearing protection, eye protection, chain saw chaps, sturdy leather boots, and appropriate clothing for the weather (rain or shine) and running a chain saw. This training is held entirely in the woods. You may bring your own saw and felling equipment, but it’s not required.
