PENNSYLVANIA RECIPROCITY WITH OUT-OF-STATE LOGGER TRAINING PROGRAMS

If taking a course not hosted by the Pennsylvania SFI Professional Timber Harvester Training Program, participants are responsible for submitting the training to the Pennsylvania SFI Implementation Committee. To transfer credits from the training programs listed below, you must submit a completed copy of the "Non-PA SFI Course Credit Form," available under the Forms Page on this website, and include all necessary fees and documentation.

MARYLAND - DELAWARE

The Pennsylvania SFI Implementation Committee (PA SIC) has established the following agreement with the Maryland-Delaware SFI Implementation Committee (MD-DE SIC) and Master Logger Steering Committee (MD-DE MLSC):
1. This MOU does not supersede the requirements of any state's respective logger training program.
2. Individual participants have the responsibility to provide proof of training and any other required forms or fees to the training program from which they are seeking credit. Participants should contact the respective training program to ascertain current submission requirements.
3. The MD-DE SIC, along with the governing body of its logger training program, the MD-DE Master Logger Steering Committee (MD-DE MLSC), agrees to the following:
a. PA core training courses are not eligible for MD-DE core training courses, with the exception of First Aid & CPR training (online training not accepted).
b. To provide 8 Continuing Educaiton (CE) hours for the PA SIC's "Professional Timber Harvesting Essentials" core training course.
c. To provide eight (8) CE hours for PA SIC the Game of Logging (GOL) - Level 1 core training course.
d. To provide MD-DE program CE hours for CE hours earned in the PA SIC program continuing educaiton courses/classes on a one (1) hour-per one (1) hour basis submitted to the program coordinator within one (1) year of completion.
4. The PA SIC, along with the governing body of its logger training program, agrees to the following:
a. Credits are awarded on a one (1) credit per four (4) hour basis, and must be submitted to PA SIC within one (1) year of completion.
b. MD-DE core training courses are not eligible for PA core training courses, with the exception of First Aid & CPR training (online training not accepted)
c. To provide one (1) PA SIC program CE credit per MD-DE core course completed (core course = 4 hrs).
d. To provide PA SIC program CE credits for CE credits earned in the MD-DE program on an hour per hour basis in accordance with the PA SIC training program policy. Individuals will be responsible for independently maintianing their PA training status in accordance with the CE requirements of the PA SIC training program.
   
   
NEW YORK

The Pennsylvania SFI Implementation Committee (PA SIC) has established the following agreement with the New York SFI Implementation Committee (NY SIC) and New York Logger Training, Inc. (NYLT):
1. This MOU does not supersede the requirements of either state's respective training programs.
2. Individual participants have the responsibility to provide proof of training and any other required forms or fees to the respective training program(s) from which they are seeking credit.
3. NYLT, along with the supporter of its logger training program, NY SIC, agrees to the following:
a. To accept Game of Logging (GOL) - Level 1 courses administered by a certified GOL instructor in Pennsylvania as satisfaction for NYLT Chainsaw Operation, Safety, & Productivity core training requirement.
b. To recognize current Adult First Aid & CPR certifications administered by a certified instructor in Pennsylvania as satisfaction for NYLT First Aid & CPR core training requirement before NY certification expires.
c. To provide NYLT CE credits for Continuing Education credits earned in the PA SIC program on a one (1) credit per eight (8) hour basis. CE credits must be submitted to NYLT within 1 year of completion. Individuals will be responsible for independently maintaining their NYLT status in accordance with the CE requirements of the NYLT program.
d. NYLT, Inc. will consider a currently qualified PA SIC logger NYLT Certified if the logger takes NYLT's "BMPs for Water Quality, Invasive Species and Threatened & Endangered Species" video course. The individual is responsible for providing proof of their current PA SIC status as well as proof that they took this video course to NYLT, Inc., which will be built into the component.**
4. The PA SIC, the governing body of the Pennsylvania SFI Professional Timber Harvester Training Program, agrees to the following:
a. To accept NYLT Chainsaw Operation, Safety & Productivity training administered by a certified GOL instructor in New York as satisfaction for the PA SIC GOL - Level 1 core training requirement.
b. To recognize current Adult First Aid & CPR certifications administered by a certified instructor in New York as satisfaction for PA SIC First Aid & CPR core training requirement.
c. To provide PA SIC program credit for the "BMP's for Water Quality, Invasive Species and Threatened & Endangered Species" video course in the amount of one-half (1/2) CE credit (2 hours).
d. To provide PA SIC program CE credits for CE earned in the NYLT program on a one (1) credit per four (4) hour basis. CE credits must be submitted to PA SIC within 1 year of completion. Individuals will be responsible for independently maintaining their PA training status in accordance with the CE requirements of the PA SIC training program.
e. The NYLT "Forest Ecology ans Silviculture" core course will not be accepted as satisfaction of the PA SIC "Professional Timber Harvesting Essentials" core training requirement.
f. PA SIC will consider a currently certified NYLT participant to be a current SFI Qualified Logging Professional in Pennsylvania if the logger takes PA SIC's "Professional Timber Harvesting Essentials" core course. The individual is responsible for providing proof of their current NYLT status as well as proof that they took this course to PA SIC.
